No Pride In Genocide is a strong sub-movement in Palestinian resistance calling on LGBTQ+ organizations to fight for Palestine during Pride. This movement calls on these organizations to stand for an immediate, permanent ceasefire and to condemn the strategic pink-washing used to justify the amplified genocide against the Palestinian people, including the queer Palestinians. Additionally, it calls on pride organizations to cut relations with advertisers/companies that profit off of the Palestinian genocide. The Palestinian cause is one against colonialism, ethnic cleansing, genocide, but also works hand in hand with intersectional feminism, the Black Lives Matter movement, Sudan and Congos struggles for freedom, and the LGBTQ+ movement with the consistent erasure of queer Palestinians.
Through the tougher times in Palestinian liberation, such as the time that we are in right now, the LGBTQ+ community has stood strong alongside their Palestinian sisters and brothers. Both communities have dealt with their struggles for freedom, police brutality, harmful public perception, and hate crimes. It is crucial that we all stand against the weaponization of the LGBTQ+ community, just as we should be against the weaponization of antisemitism.
Pink-Washing
Pink-washing is a colonial tactic used by Israhell to portray themselves as a progressive, inclusive, and democratic state as opposed to the rest of the Middle East whose people have been stereotyped for oppressing their women and LGBTQ+ population. This is used as a way to gain support for their atrocities. It is similar to how Israhell has been pushing fabricated stories of abuses committed by Hamas (cases of rapes, beheaded babies, etc which have all been committed by Israhell by the way backed up with proof) to support the racist narrative that Middle Eastern men are aggressive and heartless, a narrative that is also used against Black and Hispanic men. Israhell makes these fabricated stories and repeats a hundred times over bring home the hostages to play the victim, to gain sympathy. So basically, Zionists are just liars.
Other than being used to support the Zionist narrative, pink-washing also contributes to the erasure of a whole portion of the Palestinian population: queer Palestinians. The Zionist agenda requires an ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, but that doesn’t necessarily only mean the physical murdering of Palestinians, it also means the cleansing of their culture. Israhell is deliberately trying to kill the Palestinian culture in hopes of Palestinians being forgotten. It is the reason The Nakba isn’t known to most people, the IOF uproots olive trees, Israhell banned the Palestinian flag in Palestine (which is why the watermelon became their symbol), the media calls Palestinians in Gaza Gazans to separate them from the Palestinian identity. Putting the focus on Israhellis during a conversation about the LGBTQ+ community ignores the thousands of LGBTQ+ Palestinians that are targeted, tortured, and murdered every day.
IOF and Transphobia
The constant show being put on by Israhell as a western resort dreamland open for all is an attempt to hide the history of the land they party on, the homes they had to destroy to build high rise apartments on, the blood-soaked dirt they grow food on, the loud cries from the spirits of the thousands of children they murdered. While their people are under a spotlight shown to be all liberated and inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community, their IOF soldiers loot dead Palestinians homes and post pictures wearing Palestinian women’s underwear to mock their victims. Sounds a little transphobic doesn’t it? It is not like these pictures are hard to find, it’s really a quick google search.
Pride
Pride Month celebrates LGBTQ+ people who have for so long been scared into hiding. Hate crimes against gay and transpeople rage on and books on a daily basis are being banned. Especially under the Trump administration, this community is being heavily targeted.
Israhell annihilating Palestine will not do anything for the LGBTQ+ community nor will it make the world safer for Jewish people. Ethnic cleansing is not liberating anyone. Zionism is not allowed in our Pride because Zionism kills children before they are even old enough to explore their gender and sexuality. Zionism is a direct threat to the LGBTQ+ community in Palestine and everywhere. Think about all the queer students beaten up and arrested here in the United States for standing up for Palestine. Our very own Israhell trained NYPD is guilty of these abuses of power. This is the work of Zionism.
